A stand alone film Rendel: Cycle of Revenge a sequel for Jesse Haaja’s creation of Rendel (2017) has been acquired by Shout! Factory. Raven Banner Entertainment represents the film in Cannes Film Festival’s Marche du Film and are excited about the response from the buyers. They have closed deals on Rendel: Cycle of Revenge in Germany (Splendid), France (Program Store), Spain (Wild Duck) and Italy (Blue Swan). Action-paced revenge film produced by Miika J. Norvanto and Timo Puustinen is written by Pekka Lehtosaari.
The film stars Kris Gummerus as the title character Rendel. The Finnish superhero story has been turned into an international entertainment experience with the charismatic Sean Cronin (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, 007: The World is Not Enough) as the villain Smiley. As a high-profile Villain, Bruce Payne (Passenger 57, Highlander: Endgame) plays Smiley’s grandfather Edward Cox, who brings the threat of the past to life.
After losing his family, the masked vigilante RENDEL is caught in a cycle of revenge, destroying the VALA organization piece by piece. A spiral of violence awakens the ghosts of the past and raises the stakes in the battle against a mythical enemy.
This entertaining action film takes the viewer on a fast-paced, humour-fuelled journey to answer the question: what is the difference between a hero and a vigilante?
